After nearly three decades on London’s Chelsea Green, trading in high quality late 19th century and early 20th century decorative objects, the partnership of Christine Schell have opened their second store in Santa Barbara, California.
Their success is based quite simply on quality; no matter how good looking the object might be or how well researched the provenance, if it is not in pristine condition, they will not carry it.
Like the London store, the Santa Barbara gallery, situated on Montecito’s Coast Village Road, is a treasure trove of museum quality objects; a 19th century tortoiseshell wall mirror, a magnificient Portuguese rosewood center table, a collection of ocean jasper spheres, a mid 20th century walnut table by TH Robsjohn-Gibbings.
Both locations are run by partners of the firm, who have a long history of working with interior decorators, dealers, and serious collectors.
